These bars are quite unique in their profile, sharing some characteristics with other bends but creating their own path in others. In comparison to other popular KTM-based dirt bike bars, the 661 shares the same sweep measurement as an 821 “McGrath / KTM SX” bend, and is very close in height as an 822 “KTM Low”, but is significantly shorter in width than any KTM-related bar, creating a closer grip and sharper response through a smaller angle at the elbow but require more effort to turn the bar. This difference of width is found in the 609 “RC High” bend, but the 661 has a significantly lower profile.
What does that mean from a less technical standpoint? Compared to bends such as the 821 or 609, this lower height forces the upper body closer to the bar and more weight onto the front wheel, creating better front-end traction, a “small bike” feel, easier turn initiation, and support a more aggressive riding position with more bend at the hips required. The shorter width quickens steering and can improve elbow positioning with less effort, but gives up a little bit of leverage that helps with stabilization if your bike starts to swap side to side in the rear.
